Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

At least one million Americans have CFS.  Women are more likely to develop CFS than men.  DFS is less common in children than in adults.

CFS is a disease that causes a person feels completely worn-out and extreme fatigue and the symptoms don’t improve with rest or sleep.  The extreme tiredness makes it hard to perform normal daily tasks.

The cause to CFS is still unknown, the theories range from viral infections, to psychological stress, to weak immune system.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Symptoms

People who have CFS may experience the following symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Sore throat
  • Insomnia
  • Extreme exhaustion lasting longer than 24 hours after physical or mental exercises
  • Pain that moves from joint to joint without swelling or redness
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Loss of memory or concentration
  • Tender or painful and mildly swollen lymph nodes in your neck or armpit
