Insomnia is a common problem affecting an estimated 15% of the general population.  Its cost to our society is huge.  If you already had an evaluation by a  sleep expert, or you have tried prescription drugs or O-T-C herbs, and still not getting the result you desire, you may want to try Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): Acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Insomnia

The fundamental difference is the TCM approach is an individualized therapy tailored to each person based on his or her special energy disharmony pattern.  In short, our treatment balances the Yin and Yang energy (or the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system) and eliminate certain pathologic factors in the body (e.g. phlegm, fire…etc.).  It is natural and does not give you the sedated feeling.

Case report: Joseph is an engineer with chronic insomnia, worsened during the past year.  He has trouble falling sleep.  He is anxious and fearful.  He feels very warm all the time.  Two weeks after his first acupuncture treatment and herbal therapy, he returns reporting that he has slept well every night for a week, quality of life is much improved.  His TCM diagnosis: Heart Fire and Kidney Yin Deficiency.
