Acupuncture Helps Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting

Patients receiving high-dose chemotherapy develop various side effects. Loss of appetite and hair loss are concerns during chemo, but nausea and vomiting are major concerns for patients.  The effect of acupuncture on chemotherpay-induced nausea and vomiting has been studied over the past 20 years, and clinical evidence gathered to date has been favorable.

Review of the effect of acupuncture on nausea/vomiting(N/V) in five clinical trials of chemotherapy-induced NV, conducted by different investigators on different groups of patients and using different forms of acupuncture points, all five trials yielded positive results support the claim that acupuncture is useful for treating chemotherapy-induced N/V.
